This past weekend we went to the NY Art Book Fair at the MoMa’s PS1 in Long Island City.

MMMMMMMMMMM, BOOKS!
There were dozens and dozens of different exhibitors; selling art, books, zines, papers, posters, and other crafts! It was a Geek Girl dream come true, and we have a bag full of colorful paper to prove it.

Besides the aroma of fresh paper that lingered in the air, PS 1 was buzzing with fall spirit! One of the exhibits; The Book Co-Op was in an airstream! It was practically calling our name, begging us to curl up with our new Butt Magazine picture calendar and a chai latte!

Seriously though, can we just hop in our book-filled airstream and hit the open road? No sleep ‘till Portland! (That’s a romantic destination to meet a flannel-clad prince, right?)

Elastic City, a contemporary art collective had a “Found Object Tree” that we couldn’t get enough of. The concept of branding and packaging paperclips, and broken pen caps and other various things you’d find on the street to make ornaments and art is, in our minds, brilliant! It’s giving “trash” an entirely new value without disguising the product.

This one was a real gem. Perfect for back to school season, no?

Down the block there was a memorial for Piers Mondrian. Even after life, the creative spirit lives on in the hearts of other.

One of the art books we bought, Regime Change by Mishka Henner still has us cracking up. You can flip through the e-version on blurb, which is an awesome website that allows independent artist and writers to self-publish.
Well, we need to go give ourselves an online makeover, Mishka Henner style.
