Radical Dads new video for "Hurricane" created by our own Ivana Helsinki's Paola Suhonen!
Ivana Helsinki designer, Paola Suhonen, exercises her other creative talents in what Stylecaster describes as an “experimental psychedelic” music video for Radical Dads. Does it make us a little envious that the gorgeous Finnish designer is so multi-talented? Maybe a tad but we know better than anyone how amazing she is, we aren’t surprised she did a great job on this vid.
Fans of Radical Dads should check out Paola’s AW 2012/2013 womenswear collection here.

Ivana Helsinki’s Finnish Designer Paola Suhonen Shares Her Muses
some highlights from the interview:
How would you describe your customers, your line and this season?
My customers are hippy, bohemian, modern girls/women “The ones to carry the fire, not just shine.”
This season is called Tapiola Kauniainen. Tapiola is an area located close to Helsinki, south coast of Finland famous for its experimental modern architecture and ’60s and ’70s art community. Kauniainen is a small town famous for its well-designed, individual and artistic villas.
I spent my childhood under the dark wooden table, listening to my mom and dad, being part of those passionate conversations. The mysterious scent of French wine, smoking inside, the soft woolen carpet underneath me, those ladies, walking around my hiding place, wearing bold printed cotton night gowns, golden slippers, young mustache men with corduroy trumpet pants and brave idealistic ideas about the world.

Ivana Helsinki Invited to Design at Copenhagen Fashion Summit 2012
Copenhagen Fashion Summit 2012 has invited selected top designers from the Nordic fashion industry to participate in a design challenge. The objective is clear: come up with innovative ways to make sustainable materials into sexy desirable fashion.
15 Nordic designers take part in the design challenge – well-known brands such as DAY Birger et Mikkelsen, Marimekko, IvanaHelsinki and BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN. The designers chose among new innovative sustainable materials such as crap fibre, seaweed and recycled bottles for their design. Each designer presents two complete outfits on the runway in a spectacular show on May 3rd at The Copenhagen Opera House.
This is such a great way to raise awareness for sustainability in the fashion world.
Can’t wait to see what the creative designer of Ivana Helsinki , Paola Suhonen, comes up with!
Although it probably won’t be too much of a challenge for her, Ivana Helsinki is already a very green collection that uses sustainable and non-toxic methods methods as well as fair trade guidelines.

Thursday @ the Ivana Helsinki Concept Store…
Last Thursday the crew at Live With Us and International Playground went over to IVANAhelsinki’s relatively new Nolita store for a press event where we previewed the new A/W collection.
Just had to show you some of these great Finnish products:
Plates and little notebooks as well as napkins. These are all from Finnish design brand “Northern Oddities”. They’re stuff is only available at the store and in Finland.
Disco balls and sigh-worthy lamps. We all wanted to take something back to our apartments!
It was definitely inspiring. Some of the pieces were from Paola Suhonen’s own apartment in Finland! Great taste.
What is possibly the best fitting room in NYC, they only have one but it’s huge. I tried to get a better picture of it but it’s so big that I only got this end of the fitting room.
It’s basically a long space at the very back of the store with a huge floor-to-ceiling curtain that can be drawn back. This mirror and stool are at the end.
I tried on this dress and a couple of others and felt like I had my very own runway in there. Absolutely precious! I wanted to try on everything in the store.
And I just have to share this cute little dog bed with a wooden dog and chew toys. The rope toys are from the Finnish company Neroko.
The store has everything: baby clothing, dog toys, plates, shoes (Seychelles closet) and more.
I wanted to move in and maybe put my bed in the fitting room.
Located on: 251 Elizabeth Street (between Prince & Houston)

BFB Fashion: × FASHION INTERVIEW × IVANA HELSINKI
Why did you launch your clothing brand, Ivana Helsinki?
It was my personal art project that just grew into a fashion brand. For me, Ivana Helsinki is still a mindset, lifestyle, and dream world. Clothes are…
A great interview with Paola Suhonen. Favorite quote:
Clothes are just souvenirs of this soul world of mine, and I’m glad we have found soul mates around the world that know where we are coming from.
I believe in (clothing) soul mates.
